Green Hill Zone | I'm not even sure whether this one has mistakes or
not since I never got to check it, but it sounds good anyway, so I don't
really care.
|
Marble Zone | One note in this midi sounds off in Wingroove, but it
played fine in other wavetable emulators, so it should be fine for everybody
else too.
|
Spring Yard Zone | This midi is pretty good; despite the fact that the
notes at the end of each measure are entirely too short in duration.
|
Labyrinth Zone | I'll mess with this one again eventually; I need to
take out the goofy double-play of the bell notes at the start and make the
entire thing (the bell notes I mean) echo.
|
Star Light Zone | This one is kind of awkard, as you'll see when you
hear the bridge. Still, it's an ok midi.
|
Scrap Brain Zone | The original Sonic mechanical music. This midi is
faithful to the original except for a few mistakes in the bridge.
|
Act Finished | I wish they had used this song more than just in the
first two games. Oh well. I suppose this should actually go in the remix
section though.
|
Special Stage | This song is a little off, but I'm proud of it since I
got really close to the original, and I wasn't even listening to the
original in the first place.
|
Emerald Hill Zone | I did this midi a *long* time ago, but it sucked,
so I redid it. I'll be able to redo a lot of these now since I downloaded
GYM's from this game and ripped GYM's from Sonic 1, 3/K, and 3D Blast
myself.
|
Chemical Plant Zone | I did this one a long time ago too, but that was
actually a remix of one of Jeff Read's midis. I don't mess with other
people's midis anymore; all of the ones on this page come from my own elbow
grease (I think). Anyways, this one turned out pretty well.
|
Aquatic Ruin Zone | I just redid this one, and I've got to say, I'm
pleased with the new version. It has its funky moments (the instrumentation
isn't perfect), but it's okay overall. Better than the last one at least.
The only thing it's missing is some flanging at the beginning, which I can't
do without Cakewalk.
|
Oil Ocean Zone | Another one I mixed from one of Jeff Read's midis
quite some time ago. This time, it's all me, and it's all good too.
Literally. The midi sounds a little bit laid back compared to the original
(in Yamaha at least), but otherwise, it's near-perfect. By the way, if you
haven't figured it out yet, I've been tending to use Yamaha a lot more than
Wingroove, so be careful if you listen to some of my newer midis in
Wingroove. I'm starting to do 3-point checks though, making sure my midis
sound good in Wingroove, Yamaha, and FM synthesizers, so they should all
turn out okay.
|
Sky Chase Zone | The original. :) This one doesn't have a lot of
instruments or anything, so I was able to do it pretty quickly.
|
Carnival Night Act 1 | I did this quite a while ago, and as a result,
it's messed up. Many of my older midis are messed up for various reasons;
this one was because I attempted to do it without listening to the
original. Except for the section before the loop though, this midi is
still ok.
|
Carnival Night Act 2 | The above midi with a few sections cut out to
match the song in question.
|
Ice Cap Act 1 | I had Sonic Jam in my Saturn and was listening to the
original version of it in the Sound Test, so this midi turned out great
compared to the original. And it was also easy to do as there were only
two real sections in the song, even though they were different the second
time around.
|
Ice Cap Act 2 | This time around, I had to do more than drop a few
sections to make the second Act. I had to rearrange practically everything,
and the song required a whole new drum section. This one took even more
time to do than Act 1.
|
Competition Menu | This midi is uncomplete as I just recently (after
doing the remix of the same tune below) realized that I left a whole section
out. What's there is good enough.
|
Credits | I was quite disappointed when this midi wasn't included in
the Sonic and Knuckles Collection for PC (they used the Japanese soundtrack,
which is the American soundtrack with different songs for Carnival Night,
Ice Cap, Launch Base, and the credits). So I decided to make my own.
Disregarding the fact that I couldn't have a man scream in a short, high
pitch like in the actual song, the midi turned out well.
|
Tidal Tempest Bad Future | An ok midi, but I wasn't very faithful to
the original as this not only came from my head, but it got mixed in with
the extended Sonic Boom version.
|
Wacky Workbench Present | I made a startlingly obvious mistake in this
one (at least to me), but other than it, the midi's fine. Listen to the
background guitars and you'll see what I mean. I can't believe I let
something like that slip by!
|
Wacky Workbench Good Future (JP) | Kind of massive, as in it'll blow
your ears off if you're not prepared, but the midi is good. Not perfect
though, but then again, none of my midis are perfect.
|
Wacky Workbench Bad Future | This midi isn't perfect either, especially
with the funky volume crescendos and decrescendos of the saxaphones, and
the weird distortion guitar solo. Oh well. Maybe I'll get it right next
time.
|
Wacky Workbench Past | I tried to keep it as close to the original as
possible, but once again, without headphones I was at a loss in multiple
aspects. Even with that however, it turned out quite well.
|
Stardust Speedway Present | Not what I wanted in a midi, but it's good
enough for now. I'll redo the one below before this one though.
|
Stardust Speedway Bad Future | If you listen to this one, you can tell
why it needs to be redone. Bad instrumentation and general mistakes to be
fixed. But now that I think about it, it's not incredibly noticable.
|
Resort Island | I'm not extremely proud of this midi in some aspects,
and in others I am. Listen at your own risk; it's good, but it's not.
|
Resort Island: Instrumental Version | The above midi with the saxes
taken out. It's amazing how quickly I can do instrumental and Act 2
versions of songs, isn't it?
|
Radical City | I didn't try my hardest on this midi either, and much
like the Resort Island, it's riddled with mistakes, but sounds good in
certain sections. So once again, listen at your own risk.
|
Radical City: Instrumental Version | Rule 1 of Midi Making:
Taking out the lead won't always give you a great instrumental midi.
|
Competition Remix | Remixing tunes are quite fun to do, and these first
two turned out better than I expected. This GM version is for General
Midi sound cards (in other words, all sound cards).
|
Competition Remix: XG Version | This is the version I like better,
because using a Yamaha SXG wavetable emulator I downloaded, I can hear
flanging effects. I changed the instrumentation around on this midi to
account for XG sound cards better.
|
Elevator Sonic | A funky song I made after listening to the ending
music of a level in Goldeneye for N64, where you end the level by walking in
the elevator. Not really good, but you can listen if you absolutely want to.
|
Emerald Power | A composition I made based on the music that plays when
you get a Chaos Emerald. It's ok, but it's sort of uninspired.
|
Green Hill Good Future | If other Sonic games had different time zones,
like Sonic CD, what would they sound like? This midi answers that question
with Green Hill Zone from Sonic 1. Once I make about five of these types of
midis, I'll make a whole new section on this page for it.
|
Hidden Palace Remix | Remember on the Star Fox page where I said I love
using the Corneria stereo effect in other midis? Here's a prime example.
The entire background (which is slightly messed up by the way, so I'll fix
it eventually) uses those constant stereo effects. The midi turned out
great.
